{"id":9953,"date":"2017-12-08T12:57:48","date_gmt":"2017-12-08T17:57:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=9953"},"modified":"2017-12-08T12:57:48","modified_gmt":"2017-12-08T17:57:48","slug":"man-held-house-lords-disturbance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2017\/12\/08\/man-held-house-lords-disturbance\/","title":{"rendered":"Man held over House of Lords disturbance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">A man has been arrested in the House of Lords after a debate was interrupted by shouting.<\/p>\n<p>The man was held on suspicion of common assault and criminal damage, following the incident in the public gallery.<\/p>\n<p>Labour peer Lord Giddens was speaking in a debate on Friday morning when he paused as a shout was heard, noting a &#8220;continuing disturbance from outside&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The annual Archbishop of Canterbury&#8217;s debate was about the role of education in building a flourishing society.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: &#8220;At approximately 11:15am on Friday, 8 December police were called to reports of a disturbance within the Palace of Westminster.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A man, believed aged in his 20s, was escorted from the premises by officers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of common assault and criminal damage and remains in custody at a central London police station.
