{"id":9749,"date":"2017-11-08T14:48:12","date_gmt":"2017-11-08T19:48:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=9749"},"modified":"2017-11-08T14:48:12","modified_gmt":"2017-11-08T19:48:12","slug":"teen-guilty-bid-import-explosives-dark-web","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2017\/11\/08\/teen-guilty-bid-import-explosives-dark-web\/","title":{"rendered":"Teen guilty of bid to import explosives from dark web"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">A teenager has been convicted of trying to import explosives from the\u00a0<a class=\"story-body__link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/technology-37046475\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dark web<\/a>\u00a0with intent to endanger life.<\/p>\n<p>Gurtej Singh Randhawa, from Wolverhampton, attempted to buy a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device, which would be sent to him.<\/p>\n<p>The 19-year old was arrested in May 2017 after the National Crime Agency (NCA) replaced the package with a dummy device before it was delivered.<\/p>\n<p>He was found guilty on Tuesday after a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.<\/p>\n<p>Randhawa, of Grove Lane, Tettenhall, who had previously pleaded guilty to attempting to import explosives, was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on 12 January.<\/p>\n<p>He was convicted of maliciously possessing an explosive substance with intent to endanger life or cause serious injury.<\/p>\n<p>Two women, aged 45 and 18, were also arrested at the same time but were released without charge.<\/p>\n<p>Tim Gregory, from the NCA&#8217;s armed operations unit, said: &#8220;The explosive device Randhawa sought to purchase online had the potential to cause serious damage and kill many people if he had been successful in using it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He was not involved in an organised crime group or linked to terrorism, but is clearly an individual who poses a significant risk to the community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-birmingham-41914945\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bbc.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">A teenager has been convicted of trying to import explosives from the\u00a0dark web\u00a0with intent to endanger life.
