{"id":8895,"date":"2017-08-14T05:41:49","date_gmt":"2017-08-14T09:41:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=8895"},"modified":"2017-08-14T05:42:30","modified_gmt":"2017-08-14T09:42:30","slug":"godaddy-expels-neo-nazi-site-article-charlottesville-victim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2017\/08\/14\/godaddy-expels-neo-nazi-site-article-charlottesville-victim\/","title":{"rendered":"GoDaddy expels neo-Nazi site over article on Charlottesville victim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">Web hosting company GoDaddy has given a US neo-Nazi site 24 hours to find another provider after it disparaged a woman who died in protests in Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Stormer published a piece denigrating Heather Heyer, who was killed on Saturday after a car rammed into a crowd protesting at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville.<\/p>\n<p>GoDaddy had faced calls to remove the white supremacist site as a result.<\/p>\n<p>The web host said the Daily Stormer had violated its terms of service.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We informed the Daily Stormer that they have 24 hours to move the domain to another provider, as they have violated our terms of service,&#8221; GoDaddy said in a statement\u00a0<a class=\"story-body__link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GoDaddy\/status\/896935462622957573\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, some web users had called on GoDaddy to remove the site &#8211; including women&#8217;s rights campaigner Amy Siskind.<\/p>\n<p>Violence broke out in Charlottesville, Virginia, after white supremacists organised a controversial far-right march called &#8220;Unite the Right&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Since the announcement, a blog post has appeared on the Daily Stormer, claiming the site has been hacked by Anonymous.<\/p>\n<p>However, the main Twitter feed for Anonymous has said it has no confirmation that the hacker group is involved.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s very unusual for a host to remove a website because they&#8217;ve got immunity in the US under the First Amendment,&#8221; said Niri Shan, a media and freedom of speech lawyer at Taylor Wessing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Social media sites and those hosting content are very alive to public pressure and perception,&#8221; he told the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now you&#8217;ve got politicians saying they&#8217;ll intervene and legislate if they don&#8217;t take more actions on the content on their sites, so I think this is part of a bigger picture.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/technology-40922029\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bbc.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">Web hosting company GoDaddy has given a US neo-Nazi site 24 hours to find another provider after it disparaged a woman who died in protests in Virginia.
