{"id":7736,"date":"2017-05-27T03:25:22","date_gmt":"2017-05-27T07:25:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=7736"},"modified":"2017-05-27T03:32:34","modified_gmt":"2017-05-27T07:32:34","slug":"girl-11-accuses-school-war-crime-feedback-form","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2017\/05\/27\/girl-11-accuses-school-war-crime-feedback-form\/","title":{"rendered":"Girl, 11, accuses school of war crime in feedback form"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">An 11-year-old girl&#8217;s assertion that her school was guilty of a war crime has gone viral.<\/p>\n<p>Her father, Gavin Bell (also known as author Mason Cross), revealed on Twitter that she had gone rogue on a pupil feedback form.<\/p>\n<p>She criticised the policy of punishing a whole class for one person&#8217;s bad behaviour &#8211; by citing the Geneva Conventions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Not sure if I should ground her or buy her ice cream,&#8221; Mr Bell mused.<\/p>\n<p>Asked what her teacher could do better, Ava Bell wrote: &#8220;Not use collective punishment as it is not fair on the many people who did nothing and under the 1949 Genva [sic] Conventions it is a war crime.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/660\/cpsprodpb\/1268A\/production\/_96220457_schoolgirltweet2.jpg\" alt=\"A picture tweeted by Mason Cross showing his daughter's school feedback form, which reads: &quot;Things my teacher could do better&quot;, with the reply, &quot;Not use collective punishment as it is not fair on the many people who did nothing and under the 1949 Genva [sic] Conventions it is a war crime.&quot;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"story-body__link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MasonCrossBooks\/status\/867687194718351360\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The picture showing the suggestion<\/a>, handwritten in pencil, has been &#8220;liked&#8221; more than 400,000 times on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Bell, who is based in Glasgow, said his eldest child is &#8220;11 going on 47&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I should clarify that she thinks her teacher is awesome,&#8221; he added. &#8220;It&#8217;s just this aspect of the educational justice system she has an issue with.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He told the BBC he came across the form at a parents&#8217; evening, where folders of the children&#8217;s work are displayed for their guardians to read.<\/p>\n<p>He said it was entirely characteristic, laughing, &#8220;She will never let an argument go at home!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Various fellow parents joked that young Miss Bell was precocious, and this could be just the start for her.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Frightening&#8230; i am genuinely sorry for you for all those hard conversations which you will lose&#8230;&#8221; <a class=\"story-body__link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/funsterr\/status\/867711666871574528\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a> Brian Siddhu.<\/p>\n<p>One more cynical observer accused writer Mr Bell of making it up.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Meh, no way this actually happened. Shame on you, using your kid for rts [re-tweets]&#8230;&#8221; <a class=\"story-body__link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Nagoyapompey7\/status\/867754330182434816\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote<\/a> tweeter @NagoyaPompey.<\/p>\n<p>The father replied: &#8220;Dude, if I&#8217;d made it up I would have got her to fix the spelling of &#8216;Geneva.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He told the BBC his daughter has &#8220;just loves looking into things&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She has a Google habit,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;Usually it&#8217;s along the lines of science and technology.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;According to Ava, her teacher thought it was quite amusing!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Faced with the choice between ice cream or punishment, most Twitter users thought the schoolgirl deserved the dessert option.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m game to crowdfund her entire year&#8217;s ice cream needs tbh,&#8221; <a class=\"story-body__link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PedestrianPoet\/status\/867733583888138241\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">offered<\/a>@PedestrianPoet.<\/p>\n<p>Her father&#8217;s response was more measured.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Bell <a class=\"story-body__link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MasonCrossBooks\/status\/867794847033413632\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a> a picture of his daughter holding two cones of ice-cream, with the words, &#8220;The people have spoken&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/cpsprodpb\/7244\/production\/_96225292_masoncross.jpg\" alt=\"Mr Bell - aka Mason Cross - tweeted a picture of his daughter smiling with ice-cream\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-scotland-40056693\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bbc.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">An 11-year-old girl&#8217;s assertion that her school was guilty of a war crime has gone viral.
