A learner driver was on course to pass her test – until the instructor’s uninsured car was stopped by police.<\/p>\n

The learner and examiner were pulled over during a driving test in Tile Cross, east Birmingham, on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The learner driver was told her driving was actually fine….but the car, belonging to her instructor, wasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police checked the car and found that as well as being uninsured it also had no MoT certificate.<\/p>\n

The force’s road policing unit said the student would have passed the test<\/a> had it not been interrupted, as no mistakes had been recorded.<\/p>\n

The driving test was cancelled and the police seized the car.<\/p>\n

The police said the student had not completed the minimum time needed to have passed the test.<\/p>\n

The driving examiner and student were taken back to the test centre, where the driving instructor was questioned by police.<\/p>\n

The learner driver had not made any minor faults during the test.<\/em>The driving instructor who owned the car was taken to her vehicle where she was told it would be seized and that she would be reported.<\/p>\n

The 46-year-old admitted knowing the car was not insured but denied knowing the car had no MoT, said police.<\/p>\n

Police seized the car and took the driving instructor’s badge.<\/p>\n

She was reported to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and will need to provide valid insurance and MoT documents to police at a later date.<\/p>\n

The learner driver had paid \u00a315 extra on top of the standard \u00a362 to sit the test on a Saturday – having already paid the additional \u00a323 to sit the separate required diving theory test.<\/p>\n

Police confirmed that as this was a road test, the examiner and student had committed no offence adding “instructor waiting back at test centre commits the offences.”<\/p>\n
