{"id":5673,"date":"2017-02-09T19:01:36","date_gmt":"2017-02-10T00:01:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=5673"},"modified":"2017-02-09T19:01:36","modified_gmt":"2017-02-10T00:01:36","slug":"court-rules-not-reinstate-trump-travel-ban","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2017\/02\/09\/court-rules-not-reinstate-trump-travel-ban\/","title":{"rendered":"Court rules not to reinstate the Trump travel ban"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A US appeals court has rejected a bid to reinstate President Donald Trump&#8217;s controversial travel ban.<\/p>\n<p>The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals said it would not block a lower-court ruling that brought the president&#8217;s executive order to a halt.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Trump made the order temporarily banning people from seven mainly Muslim countries, because of terror threats he said put national security at risk.<\/p>\n<p>But it sparked protests and confusion as people were stopped at US borders.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyers representing the US government had argued that the ban was a &#8220;lawful exercise&#8221; of presidential authority.<\/p>\n<p>But two US states said the ban was unconstitutional and discriminated against Muslims.<\/p>\n<p>The case is now likely to end up at the highest court, the US Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-us-canada-38927175\" target=\"_blank\">bbc.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">A US appeals court has rejected a bid to reinstate President Donald Trump&#8217;s controversial travel ban.
