{"id":4760,"date":"2017-01-02T05:48:03","date_gmt":"2017-01-02T10:48:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=4760"},"modified":"2017-01-02T05:48:03","modified_gmt":"2017-01-02T10:48:03","slug":"another-competency-hearing-for-dylann-roof-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2017\/01\/02\/another-competency-hearing-for-dylann-roof-today\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Competency Hearing for Dylann Roof Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Charleston, SC: \u00a0Judge Richard Gergel will hold another competency hearing for Dylann Roof, the man convicted of killing nine people at a Charleston church.<\/p>\n<p>The hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, one day before the sentencing phase of the trial begins.<\/p>\n<p>Roof could face the death penalty and is representing himself. \u00a0He said he has no plans to call witnesses or enter any evidence.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutors may call 38 witnesses\u00a0related to the nine dead\u00a0and three who survived the June 2015 slaughter during Bible study at Emanuel AME Church.<\/p>\n<p>Even if Roof is sentenced to death, it&#8217;s highly unlikely he&#8217;d be executed anytime soon.
