The house where Austrian incest monster Josef Fritzl shut his daughter in the cellar for 24 years has been sold to a woman who runs a local strip club, reports said Monday.<\/div>\n

The Niederoesterreiche Nachrichten newspaper quoted a man named Herbert\u00a0Houska as saying that his wife Ingrid and her business partner have purchased\u00a0the building in Amstetten in northern Austria.\u00a0 They intend to renovate the house and convert it into flats, he said.<\/p>\n

Other reports said that in addition to the Stadtbrauhof pub, the Houskas\u00a0also manage Bar Josefine, a local strip club.<\/p>\n

“It can’t stay empty for ever. We need to bring life into it.\u00a0In two years\u00a0it will be a house like any other,” Herbert Houska was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n

“We have lots of trainees, some from (nearby towns) Persenbeug and Ybbs,\u00a0and so we need employee flats,” he told the Niederoesterreiche Nachrichten.<\/p>\n

The Die Presse newspaper speculated that women working in Bar Josefine\u00a0could be put up in the house.<\/p>\n

The Austria Press Agency cited the liquidator of Fritzl’s assets, Walter\u00a0Anzboeck, as saying that the purchase price was 160,000 euros ($171,725). The\u00a0keys will be handed over this week.<\/p>\n

The cellar where Fritzl kept his daughter Elisabeth, fathering seven children by her, is no longer usable, having been filled with cement in 2013.\u00a0 Her ordeal came to an end in April 2008 when the oldest child, then 19, had\u00a0to be taken to hospital, bringing the gruesome story to light and attracting\u00a0massive media interest.<\/p>\n

Fritzl, now 81, was found guilty in 2009 of murder over the death of one of\u00a0Elisabeth’s babies, as well as incest, sequestration and 3,000 counts of rape.\u00a0He was jailed for life.<\/p>\n

The fate of the house has long been a topic of debate, with authorities\u00a0initially concerned it could become a gruesome tourist attraction.<\/p>\n
