{"id":3202,"date":"2016-11-23T05:58:28","date_gmt":"2016-11-23T10:58:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=3202"},"modified":"2016-11-23T05:58:28","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23T10:58:28","slug":"trial-toronto-pastor-brent-hawkes-resumes-today-closing-arguments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2016\/11\/23\/trial-toronto-pastor-brent-hawkes-resumes-today-closing-arguments\/","title":{"rendered":"Trial Of Toronto Pastor Brent Hawkes Resumes Today With Closing Arguments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KENTVILLE, N.S. &#8211; Closing arguments will be made today in the trial of a prominent Toronto pastor accused of performing sex acts on a teenage boy more than 40 years ago in Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n<p>Brent Hawkes, a high-profile rights activist, has pleaded not guilty to charges of indecent assault and gross indecency. \u00a0The charges stem from events in the mid-1970s, when he was a teacher in his mid-20s in Nova Scotia&#8217;s Annapolis Valley.<\/p>\n<p>The trial in Kentville, N.S., has heard emotional testimony from a middle-age man who said Hawkes led him down a hallway naked during a drunken get-together at his trailer and forced oral sex on him in a bedroom when he was about 16 years old.<\/p>\n<p>But taking the stand in his own defence, Hawkes categorically denied the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>Hawkes told the court last Thursday: &#8220;It&#8217;s not true.
