{"id":3199,"date":"2016-11-22T21:03:46","date_gmt":"2016-11-23T02:03:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=3199"},"modified":"2016-11-22T21:03:46","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23T02:03:46","slug":"kansas-man-sentenced-life-prison-abduction-death-5-year-old","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2016\/11\/22\/kansas-man-sentenced-life-prison-abduction-death-5-year-old\/","title":{"rendered":"Kansas man sentenced to life in prison for abduction, death of 5 year old"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marcas McGowan, 32, from Kansas has been sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping his girlfriend&#8217;s 5 year old daughter and shooting the child to death during a 2014 police chase.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"text\" data-reactid=\"6\">McGowan declined to address the judge during his sentencing hearing Tuesday in Kansas City, Kansas.\u00a0 He had already pleaded guilty to kidnapping resulting in death and to discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"text\" data-reactid=\"8\">Police say McGowan abducted Cadence Harris, on July 18, 2014, after arguing with her mother at their home. During a chase that followed the argument, McGowan fired at police and fatally shot the girl.
