One of the victims was a woman who was believed to be pregnant, police said in a statement. Three other people were wounded.<\/p>\n
Police said they were searching for the suspects and no arrests had been made.<\/p>\n
The area surrounding the house was cordoned off while forensic investigators worked through the scene.<\/p>\n
The South African Police Service said: “Information available at this stage suggests that 13 men and one woman, who is believed to be pregnant, were reportedly having a party inside a house when three men arrived and opened fire on them.<\/p>\n
“Ten victims, including the woman, died at the scene and four were taken to hospital were one of them succumbed to gunshot injuries.”<\/p>\n

The motive for the shooting is not clear, but police said some of the people at the house were known to them as part of investigations into criminal activity.<\/p>\n
Police said they were unable to give out more information on those investigations.<\/p>\n
“Although the motive of the shooting cannot be confirmed yet, feud between rival groupings cannot be ruled out,” police said.<\/p>\n
Police are also investigating if the torching of a car near the house was connected to the shooting.<\/p>\n
There have been a series of mass shootings in South Africa in recent years.<\/p>\n
In June, 12 people were killed in Johannesburg, while two mass shootings two weeks apart last December left 21 people dead.<\/p>\n
Police statistics for South Africa show there was an average of nearly 60 homicides between April and June this year.<\/p>\n
