In what may be\u00a0the first case of its kind in the country, a Missouri Court reached a decision in a dispute between a former husband and wife over whether or not the woman has the right to have their two frozen embryos implanted and brought to term.<\/p>\n
The couple\u00a0have two sons via in vitro fertilization and are arguing about what to do with two remaining frozen embryos.<\/p>\n
The woman\u00a0wants more children, but her ex-husband doesn’t. \u00a0The woman’s attorney argued that the embryos are people not property. But in a 2-1 decision, the court ruled the embryos are marital property and cannot be used unless both parties sign a written agreement.<\/p>\n
An\u00a0appeal of the decision is expected.<\/p>\n
