{"id":29367,"date":"2025-05-15T10:10:42","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T14:10:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=29367"},"modified":"2025-05-15T10:10:42","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T14:10:42","slug":"tiktok-influencer-shot-dead-during-livestream-in-mexico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2025\/05\/15\/tiktok-influencer-shot-dead-during-livestream-in-mexico\/","title":{"rendered":"TikTok influencer shot dead during livestream in Mexico"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Mexican social media influencer was shot dead during a TikTok livestream, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>Valeria Marquez, 23, who had nearly 200,000 followers on social media, was working at a beauty salon in Zapopan, Jalisco, central\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/topic\/mexico-6001\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Mexico<\/strong><\/a>, before the incident on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>On her\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/topic\/tiktok-8490\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>TikTok<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>livestream, Marquez was seen seated at a table holding a stuffed toy in front of her. She was heard saying, &#8220;They&#8217;re coming,&#8221; before a voice off-screen asked, &#8220;Hey, Vale?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yes,&#8221; Marquez responded before muting the sound on her livestream.<\/p>\n<p>She appeared to be speaking to someone off-camera when she was shot once in the head and once in the chest, killing her instantly.<\/p>\n<p>Marquez had said earlier in the livestream that someone had come to the salon when she was not there with an &#8220;expensive gift&#8221; for her.<\/p>\n<p>The Jalisco state prosecutor said in a statement that her death is being investigated as femicide &#8211; the killing of women or girls for reasons of gender.<\/p>\n<p>Gender-based violence is highly common in Mexico.
