Trump has said he will &#8220;most likely&#8221; give TikTok a 90-day reprieve from a ban once he takes office on Monday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;The 90-day extension is something that will be most likely done, because it&#8217;s appropriate,&#8221; Trump told\u00a0<a class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cwypng0rw0lo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News on Saturday.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;If I decide to do that, I&#8217;ll probably announce it on Monday.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Users reported the app had also been removed from both Apple and Google&#8217;s US app stores and TikTok.com was not showing videos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office,&#8221; the message displayed after the ban went into force read.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-12l5xzx-LinksComponentWrapper e3eyuya0\" data-component=\"links-block\">\n<section class=\"ssrcss-msolhr-LinksWrapper e3eyuya5\">\n<ul class=\"ssrcss-mh3hvv-InContentLinksGrid e3eyuya3\" role=\"list\">\n<li class=\"ssrcss-r2yl4r-PromoItem e3eyuya1\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-s1qr4x-Promo e1vyq2e80\" data-testid=\"promo\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-1enzf19-PromoCompact e18gnqux0\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-1d68cot-PromoContent exn3ah99\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-1f3bvyz-Stack e1y4nx260\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1sen9vx-PromoHeadline exn3ah96\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cqx98115rqvo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span aria-hidden=\"false\">Could TikTok ever be banned in the UK too?<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the law, passed in April last year, banning the app in the US unless its China-based parent company, ByteDance, sold the platform by Sunday, which it has not done.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">TikTok has argued that the law violates free speech protections for its 170 million users in the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">After the ruling, TikTok&#8217;s chief executive, Shou Zi Chew, appealed to Trump, thanking him for his &#8220;commitment to work with us to find a solution.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Mr Chew is expected to attend Trump&#8217;s inauguration on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In the hours leading up\u00a0<a class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cdd99r0jm3jo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to the social media platform going offline<\/a>, content creators had been posting videos to say goodbye to their followers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Creator Nicole Bloomgarden told the BBC that not being on TikTok would result in a significant salary cut.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Another user, Erika Thompson, said educational content on the platform would be the &#8220;biggest loss&#8221; for the community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">TikTok users were met with a message earlier on Saturday that said the law would &#8220;force us to make our services temporarily unavailable.
