{"id":28855,"date":"2025-01-17T06:18:35","date_gmt":"2025-01-17T11:18:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=28855"},"modified":"2025-01-17T06:18:35","modified_gmt":"2025-01-17T11:18:35","slug":"australian-influencer-charged-with-poisoning-her-baby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2025\/01\/17\/australian-influencer-charged-with-poisoning-her-baby\/","title":{"rendered":"Australian influencer charged with poisoning her baby"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"ssrcss-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">An Australian influencer has been charged with poisoning her baby girl to elicit donations and boost online followers.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Queensland woman claimed she was chronicling her child&#8217;s battle with a terminal illness on social media, but detectives allege she was drugging the one-year-old and then filming her in &#8220;immense distress and pain&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Doctors had raised the alarm in October, when the baby was admitted to hospital suffering a serious medical episode.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">After months of investigation, the 34-year-old woman was charged with torture, administering poison, making child exploitation material and fraud.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper ep2nwvo0\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;[There are] no words for how repulsive offences of this nature are,&#8221; Queensland Police Det Insp Paul Dalton told reporters on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Between August and October, detectives say that the woman &#8211; from the Sunshine Coast region &#8211; gave the child several prescription and pharmacy medicines, without approval.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She went to great lengths to obtain the unauthorised medications and cover up her behaviour, they alleged, including using leftover medicine for a different person in their house.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Police began investigating on 15 October, when the baby was brought into hospital experiencing &#8220;severe emotional and physical distress and harm&#8221;. Tests for unauthorised medicines returned a positive result later in January, they said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">However, Insp Dalton said the child was now &#8220;safe and doing well&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The woman raised A$60,000 (\u00a330,500; $37,300) through GoFundMe donations &#8211; which the site is attempting to repay, Det Insp Dalton said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Police had investigated other people over the alleged abuse, but there was no evidence to charge anyone else, he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The woman is due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c93l8j1j8yvo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bbc.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">An Australian influencer has been charged with poisoning her baby girl to elicit donations and boost online followers.
