REUTERS\/Kaylee Greenlee Beal\" \/><\/div><figcaption class=\"ui-media-caption\"><span class=\"u-hide-visually\">(Image:<\/span><span class=\"ui-media-caption__caption-text\"> Reuters)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Josh Koskoff, a lawyer for the families, called the companies a &#8220;three-headed monster&#8221; that &#8220;knowingly exposed [the gunman] to the weapon, conditioned him to see it as a tool to solve his problems and trained him to use it&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is a direct line between the conduct of these companies and the Uvalde shooting,&#8221; Mr Koskoff said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the lawsuits, Ramos had played versions of Call Of Duty since he was 15, including one that allowed him to effectively practise with the version of the rifle he used at the school.<\/p>\n<p>It claimed the company created a &#8220;hyperrealistic&#8221; game where &#8220;although the killing is virtual, the weapons are authentic &#8211; they are designed to perfectly imitate their real-life counterparts in look, feel, recoil and accuracy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The legal action claims Instagram does little to enforce rules that ban marketing firearms and harmful content to children.<\/p>\n<p>It also accuses gunmakers Daniel Defense of using the social media platform to help &#8220;extol the illegal, murderous use of its weapons&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the same families also filed a $500m (\u00a3392m) lawsuit against Texas state police officials and officers who responded to the shooting but\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/uvalde-school-shooting-critical-failures-in-response-as-gunman-left-in-classroom-for-more-than-hour-13051063\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">waited more than an hour to confront Ramos<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0inside the classroom as students and teachers lay dead, dying or wounded.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8216;Baseless accusations&#8217;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Call Of Duty makers, Activision, called the shooting &#8220;horrendous and heartbreaking in every way&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The company added its &#8220;deepest sympathies&#8221; for the &#8220;families and communities who remain impacted by this senseless act of violence&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>But it added: &#8220;Millions of people around the world enjoy video games without turning to horrific acts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdc-article-widget sdc-article-image\">\n<figure class=\"sdc-article-image__figure\">\n<div class=\"sdc-article-image__wrapper\" data-aspect-ratio=\"16\/9\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"sdc-article-image__item\" src=\"https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/24\/05\/768x432\/skynews-call-of-duty-activision_6565327.jpg?20240525085602\" sizes=\"(min-width: 1024px) 1024px, 100vw\" srcset=\"https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/24\/05\/384x216\/skynews-call-of-duty-activision_6565327.jpg?20240525085602 380w, https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/24\/05\/768x432\/skynews-call-of-duty-activision_6565327.jpg?20240525085602 760w, https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/24\/05\/1600x900\/skynews-call-of-duty-activision_6565327.jpg?20240525085602 1024w, https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/24\/05\/2048x1152\/skynews-call-of-duty-activision_6565327.jpg?20240525085602 2048w\" alt=\"Activision&amp;#39;s Call Of Duty on sale at Best Buy in Mountain View, Calif., Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011.
