The FBI has arrested a man in Arizona over a religiously motivated terror attack on a remote Australian property last year that left six dead.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Donald Day Jr, a 58-year-old US citizen, faces two charges relating to the incitement of violence online.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He “repeatedly” sent online messages containing “Christian end of days ideology” to the attackers, police say.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The ambush left two police officers and a neighbour dead, as well as the three shooters involved.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mr Day was arrested by FBI agents in Heber Overgaard, north-east of Phoenix, on Friday and could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted on both charges, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He had used social media to “express a desire to incite violence and threaten a variety of groups and individuals”, his indictment on Wednesday read.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In one YouTube video, Mr Day threatened to harm any law enforcement officials who came to his residence following the ambush in Queensland last December, the document added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Police say the three shooters – Nathaniel, Stacey and Gareth Train – followed two YouTube accounts created by Mr Day. They added that he continually messaged Gareth and Stacey in the lead-up to the attack.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

There is also evidence that the Arizona native and Gareth were “commenting directly” on each other’s YouTube videos, Queensland Police Assistant Commissioner Cheryl Scanlon told a press conference on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Queensland Police investigators have travelled to the US to assist the FBI and local law enforcement with the investigation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The attack took place after police arrived at a remote inland property owned by Gareth and Stacey Train in Wieambilla – about 270km (168 miles) west of Brisbane.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Four officers had travelled there to check on Nathaniel Train, who had been reported missing to authorities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

As soon as they left their car to approach the house, they were inundated with gunfire.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
