{"id":26756,"date":"2023-12-09T05:13:17","date_gmt":"2023-12-09T10:13:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=26756"},"modified":"2023-12-09T05:13:17","modified_gmt":"2023-12-09T10:13:17","slug":"woman-who-threw-food-at-chipotle-workers-face-cuts-jail-sentence-in-unusual-deal-with-judge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2023\/12\/09\/woman-who-threw-food-at-chipotle-workers-face-cuts-jail-sentence-in-unusual-deal-with-judge\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman who threw food at Chipotle worker&#8217;s face cuts jail sentence in unusual deal with judge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman convicted of assault after hurling a burrito bowl at a Chipotle worker has been sentenced to two months of working in a fast food restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>Rosemary Hayne was captured in a viral video screaming at an employee in a branch of the burrito chain before throwing her food in the worker&#8217;s face.<\/p>\n<p>Originally, the 39-year-old was sentenced to pay a fine and serve 180 days in jail, with 90 days suspended, but the judge then had a change of heart.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You didn&#8217;t get your burrito bowl the way you like it, and this is how you respond?&#8221; Judge Timothy Gilligan asked Hayne at her sentencing in Parma,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/topic\/ohio-5685\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ohio<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is not Real Housewives Of Parma.&#8217; This behaviour is not acceptable,&#8221; he said, according to Sky&#8217;s US partner NBC News.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Gilligan told Hayne she could cut 60 days off her time in jail if she agreed to work at least 20 hours per week at a fast food restaurant for two months.<\/p>\n<p>Hayne accepted the offer.<\/p>\n<p>The incident on 5 September was captured by a bystander who posted the video to Reddit, where it went viral.<\/p>\n<p>In court, Hayne apologised and tried to explain the rationale behind her screaming at the Chipotle worker.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If I showed you how my food looked and how my food looked a week later from that same restaurant, it&#8217;s disgusting looking,&#8221; Hayne said, according to WJW.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I bet you won&#8217;t be happy with the food you are going to get in the jail,&#8221; Judge Gilligan quipped.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Russell told the court she had been so traumatised by the incident she had quit her job at Chipotle.<\/p>\n<p>She said she was stepping in to protect a 17-year-old employee who was getting yelled at by Hayne, adding that the food was hot and burned her face.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was so embarrassed and in shock,&#8221; she told the outlet. &#8220;I couldn&#8217;t believe my customers had to witness that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Source: \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/sky-news-logo-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/sky-news-logo-1.png\" alt=\"Sky News\" width=\"100\" height=\"20\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/rosemary-hayne-woman-who-threw-food-at-chipotle-workers-face-sentenced-to-60-days-working-in-fast-food-chain-13026103\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news.sky.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">A woman convicted of assault after hurling a burrito bowl at a Chipotle worker has been sentenced to two months of working in a fast food restaurant.
