death after a new analysis said the gun&#8217;s trigger must have been pulled.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/topic\/halyna-hutchins-9762\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The cinematographer<\/a><\/strong>, 42, was shot on the set of Western movie Rust when a prop gun fired during a rehearsal in New Mexico in October 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Hollywood actor\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/topic\/alec-baldwin-7397\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Baldwin<\/a><\/strong>, 65, has insisted he pulled back the hammer but didn&#8217;t pull the trigger.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdc-article-widget sdc-article-image\">\n<figure class=\"sdc-article-image__figure\">\n<div class=\"sdc-article-image__wrapper\" data-aspect-ratio=\"16\/9\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"sdc-article-image__item\" src=\"https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/23\/04\/768x432\/skynews-halyna-hutchins-cinematographer_6128104.jpg?20230420214601\" sizes=\"(min-width: 1024px) 1024px, 100vw\" srcset=\"https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/23\/04\/384x216\/skynews-halyna-hutchins-cinematographer_6128104.jpg?20230420214601 380w, https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/23\/04\/768x432\/skynews-halyna-hutchins-cinematographer_6128104.jpg?20230420214601 760w, https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/23\/04\/1600x900\/skynews-halyna-hutchins-cinematographer_6128104.jpg?20230420214601 1024w, https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/23\/04\/2048x1152\/skynews-halyna-hutchins-cinematographer_6128104.jpg?20230420214601 2048w\" alt=\"Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins\" \/><\/div><figcaption class=\"sdc-article-image__caption\"><span class=\"sdc-article-image__caption-text\">Halyna Hutchins was killed during a rehearsal on set<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Involuntary manslaughter charges against him were\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/alec-baldwin-all-criminal-charges-against-actor-over-fatal-shooting-on-rust-set-are-dropped-12862134\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dropped in April<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0after prosecutors said the gun might have malfunctioned due to a possible modification.<\/p>\n<p>However, a new expert examination has cast doubt on the actor&#8217;s account.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Although Alec Baldwin repeatedly denies pulling the trigger, given the tests, findings and observations reported here, the trigger had to be pulled or depressed sufficiently to release the fully cocked or retracted hammer of the evidence revolver,&#8221;
