{"id":25518,"date":"2023-06-20T06:45:03","date_gmt":"2023-06-20T10:45:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=25518"},"modified":"2023-06-20T06:45:03","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T10:45:03","slug":"police-search-2024-paris-olympics-headquarters-in-corruption-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2023\/06\/20\/police-search-2024-paris-olympics-headquarters-in-corruption-investigation\/","title":{"rendered":"Police search 2024 Paris Olympics headquarters in corruption investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police have searched the headquarters of the 2024 Paris Olympics organisers as part of a probe into suspected corruption.<\/p>\n<p>The Paris organising committee said in a statement that a search was undertaken at its offices in the Saint-Denis suburb of the French capital, and that &#8220;Paris 2024 is co-operating with the investigators to facilitate their investigations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It would not comment further.<\/p>\n<p>An official with the financial prosecutor&#8217;s office said the searches are linked to two investigations that had not previously been made public and are based on information provided by an anti-corruption agency.<\/p>\n<p>One of the probes was opened in 2017 into suspected embezzlement of public funds and favouritism and concerns about an unspecified contract reached by Paris organisers, the prosecutor&#8217;s office said.<\/p>\n<p>The other was opened in 2022 following an audit by the French Anti-corruption Agency.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor&#8217;s office said that case targets suspected conflict of interest and favouritism involving several contracts reached by the organising committee and Solideo, the company in charge of Olympic facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The Olympics will be held from 26 July to 11 August 2024 with the Paralympic Games taking place from 28 August to 6 September 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Source: \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/sky-news-logo-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/sky-news-logo-1.png\" alt=\"Sky News\" width=\"100\" height=\"20\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/police-searching-2024-paris-olympics-headquarters-in-corruption-investigation-12906027\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news.sky.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">Police have searched the headquarters of the 2024 Paris Olympics organisers as part of a probe into suspected corruption.
