Over 40 years ago, a Good Samaritan, changed the life of stranded Canadian tourist\u00a0Jacques Charette.<\/p>\n
Jacques Charette was only 19 years-old when Phil Payne, from Stourbridge, took pity on the hitch-hiker and his mate. \u00a0He transported\u00a0the pair in a\u00a0company van from London to Birmingham, took them to a pub and carried hot fish and chips to their\u00a0tent. \u00a0The next\u00a0day, Phil drove the teenagers to Liverpool\u2019s Cavern Club, The Beatles\u2019 legendary venue. \u00a0Jacques, now 61, said: \u201cWe were so overwhelmed by his generosity that tears rolled down our faces.\u201d<\/p>\n
Phil Payne was tracked down to his Highters Heath, Birmingham, home after The Sunday Mercury launched an appeal on behalf of the Montreal film crew seeking the former tool-setter.<\/p>\n
Jacques Charette, who spent two years trying to track down Payne, will never forget his kindness and has produced a TV show of their reunion. \u00a0Phil and wife Chris have now traveled to Canada for the TV show, to\u00a0be aired in January. \u00a0Charette is keeping tight-lipped over its content, but said\u00a0there were tears.<\/p>\n
