He killed Mr Walgate, Mr Kovari, Mr Whitworth and Mr Taylor with overdoses of the so-called &#8220;date rape&#8221; drug GHB, before leaving their bodies near his home in Barking, east London.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper e1xue1i86\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">He was briefly jailed for perverting the course of justice after being found to have lied about his involvement in the 2014 death of Mr Walgate, by which time he had murdered two more men. may &#8220;distract officers from the correct and necessary approach, which is for the death to be treated as suspicious unless and until the police investigation has established that it is not&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper e1xue1i86\" data-component=\"unordered-list-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-1o5f7ft-BulletListContainer e5tfeyi0\">\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li><a class=\"ssrcss-1gfaiii-InlineLink e1no5rhv0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-59576717\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How Met failings contributed to the deaths of three men<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a class=\"ssrcss-1gfaiii-InlineLink e1no5rhv0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-london-59165086\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Port case made assumptions about gay community<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a class=\"ssrcss-1gfaiii-InlineLink e1no5rhv0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/resources\/idt-d32c5bc9-aa42-49b8-b77c-b258ea2a9205\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The killer the police missed<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper e1xue1i86\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Ms Munro also expressed concern over &#8220;a lack of ownership and responsibility for the investigations of unexplained deaths&#8221; among leaders in the Met.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper e1xue1i86\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-7uxr49-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Mr Kovari&#8217;s death was classed as &#8220;unexplained but not suspicious&#8221;
