A\u00a0Florida college student accused of killing a couple and chewing on the dead man’s face told deputies: “Help me, I ate something bad.” \u00a0As he spit out a piece of flesh he\u00a0admitted it was “humans.”<\/p>\n
After they pulled him off John Stevens’ body, Austin Harrouff, 19, also begged deputies to kill him. \u00a0“Shoot me now, I deserve to die,” Harrouff said. \u00a0Deputies say they found the former high school football player and wrestler in his underwear, making animal noises and biting Stevens’ face as he pinned his victim’s body.<\/p>\n
Stevens, 59, and his 53-year-old wife, Michelle Mishcon were attacked outside their Tequesta home. \u00a0Harrouff is charged with second-degree murder in the Aug. 15 attack. \u00a0To make him eligible for the death penalty,prosecutors say they will ask a grand jury to indict him on first-degree murder charges.<\/p>\n
Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said Harrouf may have ingested lawn chemicals found in the couple’s garage and Harrouff’s father says his esophagus was burned.\u00a0 Snyder has said the deputies didn’t shoot Harrouff because they feared hitting Stevens. \u00a0An electric stun gun was used but the bites from a deputy’s dog allowed law enforcement to subdue him.<\/p>\n
Steven’s wife Michelle’s body was found in the garage.<\/p>\n
The victims lived a short distance from Harrouff’s father and were known to sit in their garage with the door open, watching television and talking to\u00a0passers-by.<\/p>\n
Harrouff’s parents issued a statement days after the slayings expressing their condolences to the Stevens family also apologizing to a neighbor who was stabbed as he tried to assist\u00a0the couple.<\/p>\n
