{"id":2038,"date":"2016-10-31T08:50:23","date_gmt":"2016-10-31T12:50:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=2038"},"modified":"2016-10-31T08:50:23","modified_gmt":"2016-10-31T12:50:23","slug":"michigan-man-pleads-guilty-to-8-felonies-in-sunday-hearing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2016\/10\/31\/michigan-man-pleads-guilty-to-8-felonies-in-sunday-hearing\/","title":{"rendered":"Michigan Man Pleads Guilty to 8 Felonies in Sunday Hearing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a rare Sunday court hearing, James Franklin Cook pleaded guilty to assault with intent to murder, five counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, assaulting an officer causing serious impairment and possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony.<\/p>\n<p>The charges come from incidents that took place in May 2015, in and around Boyne City, Michigan. \u00a0In total, Cook has pleaded guilty to 13 felonies.<\/p>\n<p>The most serious charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison for\u00a0assault with intent to murder\u00a0a deputy sheriff. \u00a0Cook also pleaded guilty to using a dangerous weapon to assault other officers at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Because it was determined the matter was pressing and necessary &#8211; the hearing was held Sunday.
