{"id":16984,"date":"2020-04-28T09:04:22","date_gmt":"2020-04-28T13:04:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=16984"},"modified":"2020-04-28T09:04:22","modified_gmt":"2020-04-28T13:04:22","slug":"el-salvador-gangs-no-ray-of-sunlight-for-inmates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2020\/04\/28\/el-salvador-gangs-no-ray-of-sunlight-for-inmates\/","title":{"rendered":"El Salvador gangs: &#8216;No ray of sunlight for inmates&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">The government of El Salvador has started sealing off the doors and windows of prison cells in which gang members are held.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, security minister Osiris Luna said that &#8220;no ray of sunlight&#8221; would enter the cells holding jailed gang members.<\/p>\n<p>He also released photos of the cell doors being barricaded with plywood and in some cases sheets of metal.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes after more than 50 people were killed over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Luna said the move was necessary to stop the recent wave of gang-related killings in the country.
