{"id":14567,"date":"2019-05-07T11:33:39","date_gmt":"2019-05-07T15:33:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=14567"},"modified":"2019-05-07T11:33:39","modified_gmt":"2019-05-07T15:33:39","slug":"british-man-rearrested-in-canada-over-mum-and-baby-deaths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2019\/05\/07\/british-man-rearrested-in-canada-over-mum-and-baby-deaths\/","title":{"rendered":"British man rearrested in Canada over mum and baby deaths"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">A British man has been rearrested after the bodies of a woman and her one-year-old daughter were found in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Leeming, 34, was first arrested days after Jasmine Lovett, 25, and her daughter Aliyah Sanderson were reported missing.<\/p>\n<p>He was released by police but was later rearrested after their bodies were discovered in woodland near Calgary on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Leeming, who has lived in Canada for six years, denied any involvement.<\/p>\n<p>Following his initial arrest, he told local media that he was &#8220;traumatised&#8221; by events.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed to have been romantically involved with Ms Lovett, who was living with her daughter as a tenant at his home, in the Cranston district of Calgary.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Lovett&#8217;s family said their lives had been &#8220;devastated and our hearts are heavy&#8221; following the discovery of their bodies.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media-landscape has-caption full-width\"><span class=\"image-and-copyright-container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image__img js-image-replace\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/cpsprodpb\/4A58\/production\/_106823091_calgary3.png\" alt=\"A police car is pictured outside a taped off property in Calgary\" width=\"976\" height=\"549\" data-highest-encountered-width=\"624\" \/><\/span><figcaption class=\"media-caption\"><span class=\"media-caption__text\">A police car is pictured outside a taped off property in Calgary<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The mother and daughter were last seen alive in Cranston on the evening of Tuesday 16 April.<\/p>\n<p>Activity on Ms Lovett&#8217;s bank accounts stopped on 18 April.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Leeming was arrested a week later, but was released by police after being questioned.<\/p>\n<p>A Calgary Police spokesman said on Monday: &#8220;At approximately 4am today we located the bodies of a woman and child, believed to be that of Jasmine Lovett and Aliyah Sanderson, in Kananaskis.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A suspect has been taken into custody and charges are pending.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The suspect cannot be named by police until charges are officially laid by the Justice of the Peace.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;However, police can confirm the suspect is the same man who was taken into custody two weeks ago.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Post-mortem examinations are due to take place, although the cause of death is not expected to be released.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Lovett&#8217;s family said in a statement: &#8220;Our lives have been devastated and our hearts are heavy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are trying to understand how this tragedy could have happened to our loved ones.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-48185756\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bbc.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">A British man has been rearrested after the bodies of a woman and her one-year-old daughter were found in Canada.
