{"id":1405,"date":"2016-10-20T08:10:04","date_gmt":"2016-10-20T12:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=1405"},"modified":"2016-10-20T08:10:04","modified_gmt":"2016-10-20T12:10:04","slug":"massachusetts-supreme-court-throws-out-fathers-rape-conviction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2016\/10\/20\/massachusetts-supreme-court-throws-out-fathers-rape-conviction\/","title":{"rendered":"Massachusetts Supreme Court Throws Out Father\u2019s Rape Conviction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>High court<\/p>\n<p>BOSTON: Massachusetts\u2019s highest court has tossed the conviction of a man found guilty in 2014 of raping his daughter more than 30 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The state Supreme Judicial Court ruled that Robert White\u2019s child rape conviction couldn\u2019t stand due to an issue related to the statute of limitations. \u00a0State law allows defendants to be convicted of child rape, if there\u2019s corroborating evidence, for incidents that happened more than 27 years prior to indictment.<\/p>\n<p>The court said White\u2019s daughter testified at trial to some \u201cincidents of rape\u201d that occurred before Oct. 3, 1981 and some after that date. \u00a0It found that prosecutors failed in providing\u00a0corroborating evidence for incidents before then, and the jury may have convicted him\u00a0based on those incidents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">High court BOSTON: Massachusetts\u2019s highest court has tossed the conviction of a man found guilty in 2014 of raping his daughter more than 30 years ago.
