{"id":10142,"date":"2018-01-02T09:02:27","date_gmt":"2018-01-02T14:02:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/?p=10142"},"modified":"2018-01-02T09:02:27","modified_gmt":"2018-01-02T14:02:27","slug":"trojan-horse-school-tribunal-hush-ruling-exceptional","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldjusticenews.com\/news\/2018\/01\/02\/trojan-horse-school-tribunal-hush-ruling-exceptional\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Trojan Horse&#8217; school tribunal hush ruling &#8216;exceptional&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">A decision not to publish details of a tribunal involving a &#8220;Trojan Horse&#8221; school governor has been described as &#8220;exceptional&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Tahir Alam was chairman of governors at a Birmingham school embroiled in an alleged Muslim takeover plot.<\/p>\n<p>He was\u00a0<a class=\"story-body__link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-birmingham-34185004\">issued with a ban in 2015<\/a>\u00a0after he was found to have engaged in conduct undermining fundamental British values.<\/p>\n<p>The ban was upheld at a tribunal in December, the details of which will not be made public.<\/p>\n<p>Evidence was found of &#8220;co-ordinated, deliberate and sustained action to introduce an intolerant and aggressive Islamic ethos&#8221; into a few Birmingham schools, including Park View School in Alum Rock, where Mr Alam was chairman.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"story-body__crosshead\">Identity protection<\/h2>\n<p>Although the tribunal following Mr Alam&#8217;s ban appeal was held in public, the full ruling will not be published to protect the identities of some witnesses called by the Department for Education (DfE).<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for the Courts and Tribunals Judiciary said: &#8220;The final decision of the tribunal makes reference to those witnesses and sets out the evidence they gave, which the tribunal considers could lead to their being identified locally.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He said it was &#8220;exceptional that a public decision is not published on the tribunal&#8217;s website&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Former Birmingham Liberal Democrat MP John Hemming said the decision not to make details of the tribunal public is &#8220;concerning&#8221; and that the hearing was an &#8220;issue of enormous public importance&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-birmingham-42540543\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bbc.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">A decision not to publish details of a tribunal involving a &#8220;Trojan Horse&#8221; school governor has been described as &#8220;exceptional&#8221;.
