Deputy National Commissioner Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya is charged with Rape (allegedly involving an 18-year-old woman at a Sandton hotel in May 2026 while she was unconscious); Sexual grooming of a minor (relating to a 16-year-old girl) and Trafficking in persons. Sibiya was arrested at a strip club in Sandton. Before his arrest, Sibiya was already suspended from his duties in July 2026 following a series of serious internal allegations. These were Interference with Investigations by tampering with the work of the Political Killings Task Team and mishandling major investigative dockets; and also Allegedly accepting a gift of 20 impalas from an alleged criminal kingpin in exchange for a police contract;.
