Mpho Mafole Murder Case

Hlanganani Agripper Mncwango and another are suspects in the assassination of Mpho Mafole, the group divisional head for corporate and forensic audits at the City of Ekurhuleni. Mafole, 47, was found in a pool of blood after his vehicle was sprayed with bullets on the R23 in Kempton Park on June 30. Mafole had been investigating a massive electricity meter fraud scandal that cost the city more than R2 billion. Mafole had just filed a detailed report and charge sheet identifying those involved in the fraud and exposing the extent of the financial damage. He was shot on the same day he submitted the report, on his way home from a work-related meeting.
