Molemo 'Jub Jub' Maarohanye is charged of kidnapping, unlawful discharge of a firearm and defeating the ends of justice. Police allege that Maarohanye confronted an e-hailing driver in Edenvale, accusing him of having a relationship with his girlfriend. He forced him into a vehicle and fired a shot in his direction. The driver escaped unharmed and reported the incident to police for which Maarohanye was arrested and charged. In 2012 Maarohanye was convicted due to a crash that killed four schoolchildren. Also in 2024, charges of rape, attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against him were withdrawn.
