Matthew Pahl

Matthew Pahl from Waukesha, Wisconsin was guilty of killing his 44-year-old girlfriend Stephanie Pavlon and hiding her body in 2022. He was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse. Stephanie Pavlon, was found in a wooded area near the Orthopedic Associates of Wisconsin clinic in Delafield. She had been missing for over two weeks and her on-and-off boyfriend, Pahl, never filed a police report. It is unknown how Pavlon died due to the condition of the body. Surveillance video shows Pahl and Pavlon leaving their apartment together on August 23, 2022. After a physical therapy appointment near where the body was found, detectives said Pahl returned to the apartment alone carrying Pavlon's belongings. Her body was found on September 9, 2022 17 days after her death. Investigators found that Pahl searched local obituaries online, read articles on the investigation and even pretended to be Pavlon online. The defense asked that any evidence from the cadaver dog authorities used in the case should be thrown out as hearsay, because the dog can't be cross-examined. The judge ruled that the fact the dog alerted on the back of Pahl's truck as having once carried a dead body can be admitted into the trial.
