On December 22, 2019 shortly after midnight, deputies were called to a home in Dallas, Georgia after a 911 call reporting a possible suicide attempt. deputies discovered Daniel Akers dead with a gunshot wound to his head. However, in the investigation, officials say they began to notice inconsistencies between what Lacy Boles told them had happened compared to what the evidence indicated. The autopsy revealed that Akers' gunshot wound was not self-inflicted and that turned the case into a homicide case.
