James Cowan and DeVaunte Hill face first degree murder charges accused of killing Caitlyn Kaufman on Interstate 440 while she was driving to work. Kaufman, a nurse, was on her way to work at Saint Thomas West when she was shot on I-440 in Dec. 2020. According to investigators, cell phone data placed both Hill and Cowan near the scene where the nurse was killed. Previous details from court suggest the deadly shooting may have stemmed from road rage. Hill was arrested in Dec. 2020 after detectives say he made statements to implicate himself in the case. Cowan was taken into custody in Jan. 2021 after being chased by FBI, ATF and Metro Police.
