Dima Tower is charged with two counts of second-degree murder as well as fleeing from police in the stabbing deaths of Robbie Tower, 49, and Jennifer Tower, 51, on August 31, 2023. Dima Tower was 14 when he was adopted from Ukraine by Robbie and Jennifer Tower in 2016. Dima had lost his mother as a child and was abandoned by his alcoholic father. Police had responded to the scene around midnight when a neighbor reported someone banging at her door and screaming for help. When she opened it, the woman was gone but had left behind blood spatter on the ground. Arriving officers saw the suspect closing the trunk of his vehicle and ordered him not to move. But Dima Tower ignored the commands and sped away, leading police on a highway chase in the car his parents had bought for him Eventually he abandoned the car and ran into dense woods. He managed to evade capture for nearly eight hours before being taken into custody. Prosecutors rejected a defense 40-year sentence proposal. Prosecution would accept a manslaughter plea but would seek life in prison. The death penalty is not a potential sentence in this case. |
